Craft in the Digital Age: Make your own Typeface is a workshop which explores the intrinsic personalities of typefaces and invites people from different disciplines and backgrounds to respond to fonts by sharing how they respond to them. The workshop prompts participants to question whether typefaces possess intrinsic personalities and it invites us to consciously engage with the world of fonts that confront us every day–subconsciously.

In the 90 minute workshop we cover:

● The history of typography
● Introduction to paper cutting
● Ice breaker and warm up exercises
● A basic introduction on how to use a new software

The process is simple, therapeutic, craft focussed and collaborative. We have run this workshop six times as part of London Design Festival 2018 and 30 times at the D&AD Festival, 2019. Participants walk away with a tangible result that they can use again and again, as well as the feeling of wanting to do and create more. This workshop is engaging, playful, relaxing as well as educational and practical.
